IRP Registration Without The Office Burden

The International Registration Plan (IRP) lets your fleet run in multiple states on one apportioned registration, but keeping that registration accurate is a constant, deadline-driven job. Kunzler Consulting (KCI) manages the entire process for you.

We oversee the addition and maintenance of fleet equipment in your IRP and state accounts: processing new titles and registrations, coordinating license plate distribution to your locations, and managing annual renewals. Additions, deletions, and weight changes are filed accurately and on time so your fleet stays fully compliant across jurisdictions.

What Our IRP Registration Service Covers

  • New equipment titling and registration processing
  • Apportioned (IRP) plate applications and issuance
  • License plate distribution to your plant or terminal locations
  • Annual IRP account renewals managed proactively
  • Vehicle additions, deletions, and weight-group changes
  • Multi-jurisdiction account maintenance and recordkeeping
  • Correcting and updating registration details as your fleet changes

Why Fleets Trust KCI With IRP

Every Jurisdiction

We maintain your IRP standing across all the states you operate in, and add new ones as your fleet grows.

Filed On Time

Renewals and changes are tracked and submitted before deadlines so you avoid lapses and downtime.

Audit-Ready

Accurate records and correctly filed changes keep your fleet prepared if a jurisdiction ever asks.

What Is Included

  • Base jurisdiction account setup, or takeover of an account you already hold
  • Annual renewal prepared from your reported distance, filed ahead of the deadline
  • Supplements through the year for added, sold, transferred or reweighted units
  • Replacement plates issued for every unit in your IRP fleet
  • Cab cards and credentials tracked so nothing runs on expired paperwork
  • Distance records organized and retained to the standard an audit expects

How We Run Your IRP Account

We start by reviewing what you already have. That means the current cab cards, the registered weights you are carrying, and the distance records behind your last renewal. More often than not the weights are wrong somewhere, either declared too high and costing money every year, or too low and creating an enforcement risk.

From there the account runs on a calendar rather than on memory. Renewal preparation begins well before the window opens, supplements are filed as the fleet changes rather than saved up, and every filing is copied to your file in digital and hard copy form.

You get one point of contact who knows your fleet, not a queue. When a driver is sitting at a scale with a credential question, that matters more than anything else we do.

IRP Registration Services FAQ

What is IRP / apportioned registration?

IRP is the International Registration Plan, an agreement among U.S. states and Canadian provinces that lets commercial vehicles operate in multiple jurisdictions under a single apportioned registration, with fees divided based on the miles traveled in each. It is required for most interstate trucks over 26,000 pounds or with three or more axles.

Can you add or remove trucks from our IRP account mid-year?

Yes. We handle supplements for adding new equipment, deleting sold or retired units, and filing weight-group changes throughout the registration year, keeping your account current at all times.

Do you distribute the plates and cab cards to our locations?

Yes. We coordinate license plate and credential distribution to your plant or terminal locations so the right documents reach the right vehicles.

How far in advance do you handle annual renewals?

We track your renewal dates and begin the process well ahead of the deadline, gathering mileage and fleet data so your renewal is filed on time with no gap in registration.
